The buying decision

ReachIR 35-640 is the family member to inspect when you want the 640-class detector but do not want the tightest ReachIR framing. AGM publishes a 12.5° horizontal view for its 35mm lens. Compared with 50-640, that gives a concrete reason to favor this version for finding activity across more terrain before inspecting a particular spot.

The 25-384 is another revealing comparison. The larger detector in 35-640 accompanies a wider published scene despite the longer lens. That is why our selection advice uses the exact sensor and angle together. Calling a 35mm model a long-range upgrade without discussing its view would miss the decision that many buyers actually need to make.

Its laser rangefinder supplies measurement information separately from the thermal image. Consider whether you will use that reading to document observations or establish distances to features during repeat visits. If range measurement is incidental, compare a non-LRF compact 640 model before accepting additional size and power demands. AGM rates runtime up to 4.5 hours and specifies replaceable 18650 batteries. A longer evening needs a charging and spare-cell plan rather than confidence in an untested endurance assumption.
