Also consider how you will switch back to unaided observation, because having a thermal view does not make it a substitute for seeing the whole environment.

Compare the ST3 Lite against Nightfox Arctic for a lower-resolution mounting-oriented alternative and against the ST6 Lite for the detector upgrade. A handheld-only buyer should also consider a pocket model. The ST3 earns its place through a clear format requirement, not through a blanket claim that every buyer needs helmet compatibility.
